ABOUT US
In February 2025, following the closure of our Tokyo gallery, we relaunched as
SANSIAO CONTEMPORARY.
Shifting from a traditional gallery model, we now focus on the sale of our collection through major auction houses, online platforms, independent art dealers, and
direct sales to individual collectors.
Looking ahead, we also plan to host intimate salon gatherings, providing a space for art lovers to connect and engage in meaningful conversations.

Since we began our journey in 2017 in Hong Kong, we have introduced emerging artists from both Hong Kong and Japan, while continuing to present works from our secondary market collection.
What makes Sansiao Gallery HK unique is our approach to showing both young and established artists side by side. Our collection includes over 4,000 works, ranging from paintings to photography and other mediums.
It offers diversity not only in style and medium, but also in the ways collectors can engage with the works. The gallery is located in Central, Hong Kong – a vibrant district where the city’s creative and cultural energy comes together.
A Room of One's Own
29 May – 27 June, 2025
Sumiko Iwaoka, Kaoru Taguchi, with Sansiao Gallery HK collection
Sansiao Gallery HK is pleased to announce A Room of One’s Own, opening on 29 May, as the first chapter of our 2025 exhibition series.
This year, our exhibitions consider themes of individuality within society and the quiet release from roles shaped by unconscious expectations. A Room of One’s Own brings together three artists whose practices speak to these ideas with sincerity and depth.
Sumiko Iwaoka explores shifting ideals of beauty through a dialogue between classical art history and contemporary culture. Her work highlights the subtle tensions that arise when enduring notions of aesthetic value meet the passing nature of daily life.
Kaoru Taguchi works with painting and woodblock print to create layered compositions that reflect on the everyday, religious iconography, and memory. Her process of carving and reworking surfaces allows for a re-encounter with images—both personal and inherited.
Alongside their work, we are pleased to present JUST A REFLECTION by Tracey Emin, from our collection. Emin’s presence in the exhibition expands the conversation around self-expression, vulnerability, and the complexity of personal freedom.
The exhibition is rooted in a personal reflection on how deeply internalised roles shaped by social expectation can influence our perception of self. It invites viewers into a space for quiet observation, and considers what it means to be free, as an individual, in today’s world.
